Off The Beat is the premier modern rock & pop a cappella group at the prestigious University of Pennsylvania. Rooted in rock music, our repertoire now spans a range of genres from pop and R&B to electronic and funk.
Founded in 1987 and now in its 39th year, Off The Beat has become one of the most decorated collegiate a cappella groups in the US winning over 30 CARA Awards, being featured on 17 Best of Collegiate A Cappella (BOCA) albums, and starring in the second season of POP TV's aca-documentary television series, "Sing it On!"
In addition to finishing 10th place in the world in the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella in 2015 (3rd Place in Mid-Atlantic Semifinal & 3rd Place National Wild Card), Off The Beat has had the distinct pleasure of performing at the Kimmel Center for Performing Arts, singing for the Comcast & NBCUniversal Pitch Perfect 3 advanced screening, opening for NBC’s The Sing Off season 1 winners Committed (Oakwood University), and serenading former Vice President of the United States Joe Biden. OTB was also named the DP’s 2025 Best In Penn a cappella group! But above all else, we love singing together and creating sweet music for all of you.
